The Pyrénées Orientales is one of the first departments to have reimposed the compulsory mask in public spaces. Since a prefectural decree dated July 16, all the municipalities of the department are concerned with the exception of beaches and ‘large natural spaces’.

In this department, 45 municipalities are affected by the return of the compulsory mask outdoors. Indeed, since July 20 the municipalities of La Rochelle, Royan and several municipalities of the island of Oléron and the island of Ré have again imposed this health measure. In addition, the mask is also mandatory for other municipalities in the department, in certain areas such as markets, flea markets and fairs, but also during demonstrations, public events in the street, near transport and shopping centers.

The new prefect of Hérault Hugues Moutouh therefore decided to generalize since last Wednesday ” the obligation to wear a mask outside in the department, with the exception of beaches, swimming areas and large natural spaces “. On the other hand, in four less affected Hérault communities, it is “ optional but strongly recommended ».

As of this Friday, July 23, 2021, wearing a mask is once again compulsory in 58 towns in the Var department. Among them, we can cite the cities of Toulon, Saint-Raphaël, Fréjus, Saint-Tropez, La Seyne-sur-Mer, Six-Fours-les-Plages, Bandol, Sanary-sur-Mer… The measure does not apply not, on the other hand, to natural spaces, such as beaches, forests, dikes and lakes, but remains in force on the other hand along promenade and seafront.

In Meurthe-et-Moselle and since this Thursday, July 22, a prefectural decree has made the wearing of a mask compulsory for all pedestrians aged 11 or over, on public roads and in places open to the public from 9 a.m. to midnight , “ in municipalities with 5000 inhabitants and more in intercommunalities whose incidence rate is close to or exceeds 50 cases per 100 inhabitants As announced by the prefecture. The metropolis of Greater Nancy is thus already concerned.

In Vendée, the mask is now mandatory in the public space of 22 coastal municipalities, including Les Sables-d’Olonne and L’Île-d’Yeu due to the resurgence of Covid-19 cases as announced by the prefecture.

Several towns in the Calvados department have each in turn announced the return of the compulsory mask. This is the case for Deauville, Honfleur or even Blonville-sur-Mer, Cabourg or even Trouville-sur-Mer.

In Haute-Garonne and since July 20, you have to be masked to access Toulouse city center from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. In the rest of the department, the measure applies only in markets, flea markets, around schools, in queues, and more generally in all narrow and very busy spaces that do not allow compliance with a physical distance of two meters between two people.

In a decree published on July 21, the department of Ariège indicated reinstating the obligation to wear a mask in 19 municipalities ” for people eleven years of age and over who are on public roads or in a place accessible to the public, except when they practice a physical or sporting activity “. Among them, we can cite Foix, Tarascon, Ferrières, Montgaillard, Ussat, Ax-les-Thermes …

In the north, wearing a mask is compulsory in coastal municipalities such as Zuydcoote, Ghyvelde, Leffrinckoucke, Dunkerque, Grande-Synthe, Loon-Plage, Gravelines, Bray-Dunes and Grand-Fort-Philippe as well as in the areas of Autoroute du Département du Nord for people over 11 years old.

On the side of the neighboring department, Pas-de-Calais, the prefecture announced that in addition to being already required in certain areas of affluence in all the municipalities of the department, such as meeting places and pedestrian streets, the wearing a mask has become compulsory in certain tourist places such as the towns of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Berck-sur-mer, Cucq, Le Touquet-Paris-Plage or even Calais.
