Spread Hedgehog motley is found in coniferous forests growing time August – November. Quite a rare mushroom, grows in large groups. Prefers dry sandy soils. It is distributed in all forest zones, but not equally, in some places it is completely absent, and in some places it forms circles.

هڪجهڙائي: Hedgehog motley can only be confused with similar types of hedgehogs. Related species:

  • Hedgehog Finnish, characterized by the absence of large scales on the cap, dark flesh in the stem and an unpleasant, bitter or peppery taste
  • The blackberry is rough, which is slightly smaller than the variegated one, with a bitter or bitter aftertaste and, like the Finnish one, dark flesh in the stem.

قابليت: The mushroom is edible. Young mushrooms can be consumed in any form, but fried is best. The bitter taste disappears after boiling. The motley blackberry has an unusual spicy smell, so not everyone will like it. Most often, it is used as a seasoning in small quantities.

Blackberry (Sarcodon imbricatus)

This fungus used to be called Sarcodon imbricatus, but now it has been divided into two species: Sarcodon squamosus, which grows under pine trees, and Sarcodon imbricatus, which grows under spruce trees. There are other differences in spines and size, but it’s easiest to see where they grow. This difference in species is important for the dye, because one that grows under spruce either produces no color or produces a completely ugly “garbage” color, while one that grows under pine trees produces luxurious browns. In fact, over a decade ago, dyers in Sweden began to suspect that there were two different species, and this is now confirmed by scientific research.
